Tres Grifería, Mallart Artesans and the Mas Albornà Foundation unite under a common cause

The history of Mallart began 100 years ago. Over the course of an entire century, five different generations of this delicatessen family have dedicated body and soul to the traditional production of cold cuts and other deli products from its premises in La Llacuna, within the area of Catalonia known as Gran Penedès.

In 2018, Mallart was reborn with support from the Mas Albornà Foundation. On the verge of retirement, the Mallart family found that the ongoing existence of its legacy was at risk. Ernest, the next generation of this delicatessen family in line to take over the business, is a person with mental disability. Managing the company alone would have been a complicated task for him, so they decided to get in touch with the Mas Albornà Foundation. That decision sought two goals: to guarantee job stability and quality for their son; and to ensure the survival of the family business.

As a result, Mallart was reborn and gained fresh momentum in 2018 with support from the Mas Albornà Foundation, and also became a social initiative that brings added value and commitment to the products they make.

A new era has begun, but the soul and flavours of tradition remain unchanged from the day the delicatessen first opened.

Mallart forms part of the Mas Albornà Foundation’s social project

The Mas Albornà Foundation has been working since 1969 to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities, those with mental disorders and those at risk of social exclusion by offering them services and comprehensive care within the region of Alt Penedès.

At Tres Grifería, we have been actively involved with the Mas Albornà Foundation for many years, giving jobs to foundation members.

At the upcoming edition of CEVISAMA, we will be giving our visitors free samples of La Llacuna paté made by Mallart Artesans i Xarcuters, based on an original recipe that stems from a tradition that had almost been lost to time.

It is made at the Mallart premises in La Llacuna, their processes are 100% traditional and they still use the same ingredients from the original recipe.

For Tres, our commitment to social causes and the local environment clearly demonstrates that our concerns encompass more than just business results: at Tres, people move us.

Furthermore, this is another example of how Tres works with local companies and suppliers to promote the local economy, contribute to development in the community and encourage job creation.
